My name is Michael D’Amico and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in April, 2007. I am driven to use natural methods for the purpose of controlling my type 2 diabetes. When I was diagnosed in April of 2007 my sugar was at 210. Today my early morning sugar levels range from 104-113.
More and more people have diabetes these days. I believe it can be controlled if you really want to. The western diet with artificial flavors, chemicals and ingredients is something you need to be wary of. I believe in using natural remedies with a standard diet with a visit to Subway and Arby’s with 30 minutes of late evening exercise to help maintain healthy sugar levels.
There are studies out there that show the western diet is attributable to higher insidence of diabetes, cholesterol, and tooth decay. How can someone easily integrate healthy native foods into todays’ fast pace
lifestyle? Why not try Chia seeds? Yep the same Ch-Ch-Chia you here on TV commercials around Christmas time. Chia can be put in any drink and can be used with almost any food and is very healthy for you. Chia has been used with your oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, coffee, orange juice, workout drink, etc. can be substitured for flour by using 30% less and it is gluten free. It has been known to help diabetics because it slows down the metabolization of carbohydrates into sugar.
Chia seed supplies fiber in 2 forms: insoluble (won’t dissolve in water) from its outer coat and soluble fiber (will dissolve in water) from its inner shell. Soluble fiber has been found helpful in lowering cholesteral and diabetes.
I am also a runner and take 2 tablespoons of chia seeds with an 8 ounce glass of water prior to each race. Chia seeds have been known to hydrate cells which help me get ready for each run. Last year when I really needed to bring my sugar down after being diagnosed I did the following: I did an intense evening workout for about 1/2 hour. I ate a diabetic healthy breakfast and lunch. Dinner was 3 ounces of Chia seeds and a 1/2 hour workout brought my sugar down from 125 to 115. Doing the same routine, but a 1 hour workout would bring my sugar down from 122 to 106.
I am 47 now with a sugar level of 107 as of this morning and hope to keep improving my running times and general health. To improve in 2008, I now include 2 tablespoons of Acai with the 2 tablespoons of white chia seeds in a 8 ounce glass of water prior to a race. I have been taking natural remedies including Chia Seeds, Acai, yerba mate, white tea, organic cinammin, and stonebreaker in order to keep my sugar levels normal, get ready for this running season, and keep improving my running times.

I didn’t agree with you first, but last paragraph makes sense for me…
Hello, I took a blood test today and my glucose reading was 287. The doctors at the VA want me to take all these meds. I don’t like that idea. My friend told me about Chia and Yerba Mate. How would you suggest my moving forward? I really want to get clear of this disease.
Thank you,

. . .
Sorry for the delay. I use both the Yerba Mate and the Chia. I would recommend 3 tablespoons of Chia with every meal and getting in an exercise program to lose the weight. If you went with what the doctors say, are the meds helping?

Hi yes chia is very good to our health. If you need chia or mila seed
you can buy online from this site http://www.MiracleSeedBy.Lifemax.net
thank you
Salba seeds usually come in a can or in a package that you cannot see until you purchase. The reason they do this is because if you compare with white chia seeds in a clear plastic bag, you can visually see for yourself if there is any difference.
